Last week I returned to plein air with the great meetup group Art Out. We visited the landmark cafe, Philippe The Original, established in 1908 and has been has been at its current location since 1951. You can learn more about it here: www.philippes.com. You can find out more about our meetup outing as well as how to join the group here: www.meetup.com/artout
The finished painting is now up for sale at my Etsy shop AEsch Art. You can also find many of my other smaller studies including the still life you see in this post, as well as birds and flowers. For these studies, I’ve been experimenting with bright warm color underpaintings. I like seeing the bright colors show through, so it proves to be a good technique that helps me from overworking the painting (most of the time).
